Botswana passes major gambling reform and lowers legal betting age

Botswana’s Parliament passed Bill No. 15 of 2026 on 13 August 2026, reducing the legal gambling age from 21 to 18. The reform also tightened oversight by requiring fit-and-proper checks for directors and licensees and prior approval for acquisitions of 5% or more in a licensed operator.
