UK government plans to give councils more power over betting-shop openings

The UK government announced measures that would let local authorities block more new betting shops and gaming-machine venues by revising the current “Aim to Permit” rule. The package also includes planning permission requirements for Adult Gaming Centres and longer Closure Orders.
