Leaderboards that rank fairly and stay honest

Infinetix is a UK product company that builds and operates its own iGaming, social and analytics platforms. Leaderboards are one of the gamification mechanics proven inside AzenPlay and now available for other products, direct or white-label.

What Infinetix leaderboards are

  • Tournaments
  • Server-side scoring
  • Segmentation
  • Player protection

A leaderboard is the simplest engagement mechanic to add and the easiest to get wrong. Rank people on the wrong measure and you reward the loudest spenders; rank them without protection and bots take the top ten within a day; run one long season and everyone below fiftieth place stops looking.

Infinetix built its leaderboard system for AzenPlay, where it runs tournaments and missions for casino and sportsbook players under regulatory scrutiny. That origin forces good habits: server-side scoring, auditable rank changes, segmentation so newcomers compete with newcomers, and limits designed with player protection in mind.

The same service is available for non-gaming products through the Infinetix gamification toolkit: banking and fintech, healthcare and wellbeing, e-commerce, real estate, streaming and mobile apps of all kinds. It is delivered as a managed service or white-label under your brand.

Designing for fairness

A fair leaderboard is a design decision, not a feature flag. We work through these questions with you before a line of integration is written:

What should rank mean? Raw totals reward time and money; rates and normalised scores reward skill or consistency. Missions-based points let you reward behaviour you actually want.

Who should compete with whom? Segmenting by tenure, level or activity band keeps boards meaningful for newcomers and stops a small elite from owning every season.

How long is a season? Short seasons reset hope; long seasons build prestige. Most products want both, running in parallel.

What happens at the edges? Ties, late submissions, disputed scores and removed accounts all need rules written down in advance and applied by the system, not by hand.

Anti-abuse and integrity

Leaderboards attract cheating in proportion to the value of the prize. Our integrity layer is inherited from AzenPlay, where prizes are real and regulators ask questions.

  • Scores are computed or validated on the server; clients only report events
  • Rate limits and plausibility checks reject impossible submissions
  • Anomaly detection flags sudden jumps, coordinated accounts and known bot patterns for review
  • Accounts under review are hidden from public boards without deleting their data
  • Every adjustment is logged with who, when and why, producing an immutable trail
  • Prize distribution is held until the season's results have cleared review

Detection models are tuned on live gaming and payments traffic through SmartSec, Infinetix's internal security practice. Thresholds are configurable per product so a wellbeing app is not policed like a cash tournament.

Responsible use

Competition motivates, and it can also harm. Infinetix applies responsible-use constraints to every leaderboard deployment, drawn from the player-protection rules we follow in regulated gambling:

  • No ranking by money spent unless the product is a licensed gambling environment with full protections
  • Cool-down and opt-out controls available to every participant
  • No shaming mechanicsfalling ranks are shown neutrally, never as loss messaging
  • Age-appropriate design and prize rules for products used by minors
  • Data minimisationdisplay names and scores only, with the option of anonymous participation

For healthcare, financial and wellbeing products we go further, reviewing the mechanic with your clinical, compliance or safeguarding lead before launch. If a leaderboard is the wrong tool for your users, we will say so and suggest something else from the toolkit.

Scores are validated or computed server-side, submissions pass rate and plausibility checks, and anomaly detection flags suspicious patterns for review. Every adjustment is logged, and prizes are held until results clear review.
Yes. One score feed can power global, regional, friends and cohort boards, plus parallel short and long seasons. Each board has its own rules, display and reward table.
The season is archived with its final standings and audit trail, rewards are distributed after review, and a new season starts on the schedule you set. Historical seasons remain viewable for players and for analysis in AcuBi.
No. The mechanic was proven in AzenPlay but is delivered for banking, fintech, healthcare, e-commerce, real estate, streaming and general mobile apps, with responsible-use constraints adapted to each sector.
